Get more choice and control over the disability support services you use.
Individualised funding is a disability support service that gives you more choice and control over how you want to be supported, so you can live a fulfilling and independent life.
With individualised funding, you control your disability budget allocation, including how and when you use it, as well as who provides support. You can connect with support workers directly to work with you or the person in your care, and choose purchases that support your goals.
Just because you’re in control of your support services, doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. By choosing Explore as your individualised funding “host”, you will get a personal, individualised funding “coach”, who will guide you on how to use your funding and help with any issues along the way.
Our team will support you to put together a plan for what’s important to you, and support you to find ways to achieve your goals and ambitions.
You can see the full details of the purchasing guidelines on the Disability Support website.
Our Explore team provides this service nationwide.
Fully funded service*
Individualised funding is fully funded by the Ministry of Social Development for people who are eligible. This means that you don’t have to pay to use our services, within the limits of your funding and the purchasing guidelines.
To check if you’re eligible for our fully funded services, speak to your Needs Assessment Service Coordinator (NASC).
Once your NASC has approved your funding, you can start working with us straight away. There’s no waitlist for this service.
How long does the service last?
Individualised funding continues for as long as you’re eligible for it and choose to use it.
Every disability or health condition is different, that’s why you’ll receive one-on-one support that meets your needs and preferences. No matter what barriers you face, we can work with you to make sure you can access our services.
If you already have individualised funding, you can refer yourself or a loved one by contacting our team at [email protected].
Alternatively, you can ask your NASC to refer you to Explore (formerly Geneva Healthcare Deaf & Disability) by sending the referral information to [email protected].
