This programme covers the essential knowledge needed by anyone who provides direct support to people whose behaviour can challenge. It builds a basic understanding of the values base and practice of Positive Behaviour Support:
This programme is for staff and caregivers who not only want to extend their practise in PBS but also provide leadership and support of colleagues to apply the principles and strategies of PBS.
The coaches programme consists of an initial 3 days of training that builds on concepts taught through the PBS Practitioners’ training. Trainees develop a workplace project and action plan to embed PBS within their service with ongoing consultation and support from our experienced trainers.
It is worth noting that the BILD PBS Coaches Programme is not a ‘train the trainer’ programme – coaches are to embed PBS within their organisation. Becoming a coach is not an accreditation to deliver BILD PBS.
Explore has joined with Whakatū Marae, and Maataa Waka to deliver a programme to support caregivers in Te Tau Ihu (Top of the South Island) with culturally supportive trauma and healing informed care approaches.
The programme focuses on relevant learning, coaching, and positive behaviour support approaches for the primary caregivers of tamariki in care. Caregivers may be whānau or non-whānau, and the programme is also extended to include caregiver support networks.
Our programme is based on an understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, healing informed support and positive behaviour support. We aim to improve a person’s quality of life and the quality of life of those around them.
We believe that all behaviour is a form of communication. We will work in partnership with you, your family / whānau and your support networks to better understand your needs, any patterns in behaviour, and to build on existing strengths and skills for you and your tamariki. We will help you set goals that are important to your family / whānau, and then work with you to implement any changes.
