What is early-intervention?

Early-intervention support empowers you to make healthier choices before current patterns become harmful.

Our experienced team of clinicians and wellbeing coaches specialise in early-intervention support.

We’ll work with you to create a personalised 8-week plan that’s focused on your goals, and includes:

  • Initial meeting to unpack the best way to assist you
  • Personalised plan and goal setting
  • Private counselling sessions and access to a wellbeing coach
  • Actionable information to improve your own health and wellbeing
  • Psychoeducation workshops geared towards individual recovery and wellbeing
  • Online tools to track your progress

How hazardous use of drugs and alcohol can affect you or your loved ones

The negative effects on wellbeing may include worsening health conditions, conflicts with work, relationship issues or other situations where your alcohol and drug use is affecting your physical, spiritual, family or mental wellbeing.

Our Team

  • Wellbeing Practitioners are registered practitioners with specialist drug and alcohol knowledge and skills, they will work with you to complete an assessment and gather information to help you identify goals and develop skills and strategies.
  • Wellbeing Coaches are people with their own lived experience, they are skilled professionals that share with you the challenges and success of your journey. They will provide ongoing support and connection throughout your time with PIVOT.
  • Administrators are your first touch point with PIVOT by Explore. They help ensure smooth operation and guide you to the right place.

How much does PIVOT’s 8 week journey cost?

Our service is not currently publicly funded, but reach out and we’ll assist you with an initial consultation and quote.

Is PIVOT a Drug and Alcohol Service?

Yes, PIVOT is a comprehensive Wellbeing Service. While we provide support for individuals whose alcohol and/or drug use at a mild to moderate level negatively impacts their lives, we also address other dimensions of wellbeing. Our goal is to empower individuals who may not meet addiction criteria but still desire support in improving their overall wellbeing.

How is PIVOT different from traditional addiction treatment services?

The PIVOT service takes a holistic approach to wellbeing, focusing on personalised support and addressing the specific challenges individuals face. We provide a non-judgmental and inclusive environment using the Te Whare Tapa Whā model of wellbeing, to find ways to help improve your overall health and wellbeing and enhance your mana. PIVOT is designed for individuals who do not meet severe addiction criteria but still want to make positive changes in their lives.

What can I expect from PIVOT?

PIVOT offers personalised support tailored to your specific needs. You can expect evidence-based interventions, practical tools, and guidance from our experienced professionals. We address not only your alcohol and/or drug use but also other aspects of wellbeing, such as mental health, relationships, and self-care, to help you create lasting positive changes in your life.

How long does my involvement with PIVOT last?

8 weeks. Former clients will received follow up and check ins, and are always welcome to enroll in another 8 week package of support. 

Is PIVOT confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is of utmost importance to us. All information shared during PIVOT’s sessions is treated with the strictest confidentiality in accordance with professional ethics and legal requirements. Your privacy and trust are respected, and our team maintains strict confidentiality guidelines to ensure your information remains secure.
